This isn’t a program you can pass or fail.
You just get better at life.
Movement is mental.
Fear is normal. Fear is fuel. Reframe it.
When sudden violence hits, you don’t have time to dial 9-1-1. You are the first responder.
That’s why we train.
Important — work these in order. Don’t skip.
You did it. You’re in. Everything you need to get started is below. Let’s walk through it.
Younger athletes ask me this all the time. “Tony, you’re in your 60s — how are you still faster, more explosive, and stronger than guys half your age?”
There’s no secret. There’s a system. One I built over decades of trial, error, and relentless application. And it isn’t about the gym — it’s about building strength from the inside out.
I didn’t build it for a shortcut. I built it because I had no choice.
For years I was on the road 200 days a year — teaching all week, traveling weekends, living out of a suitcase. “Drive to a gym for an hour” was a joke. So I learned to train in the cracks of my life. To steal minutes.
That’s how Tactical Snacks were born. Compound interest, applied to your body. Instead of one grueling workout that burns you out, you stack tiny, powerful 1-2 minute drills through your day.
And the research backs it. In 1967, psychologist Alan Richardson ran a now-famous experiment on free-throw shooting — often misattributed to “a study at the University of Chicago,” but it was Richardson. He split people into three groups: one practiced daily, one didn’t practice at all, one only visualized the shot. The visualizers improved almost as much as the ones who physically practiced.
Here’s the part most people miss. In that study, the groups were separate. In BTS90, we combine them. With Tactical Snacks you visualize the movement to prime your nervous system, then you execute the rep. Mental and physical, same moment. That’s why the results compound. That’s the power of the mind navigating the body.
Movement is mental.
On game day, you can’t be another athlete. You can’t wish you’d trained differently. You are you. The only thing you can control now is your mind — your thoughts.
Fear is normal. Fear is fuel. Reframe it. The slogan “no fear” has no psychological value, because it doesn’t exist — and if you believe it, you only perpetuate more fear. To face fear, you have to get to know fear. Expect fear. Embrace fear. Use fear. We must know fear to face fear. We must face fear to beat fear.
Movement is mental.
“The ability to protect yourself or a loved one is arguably the single most important skill you could possess.”
We’re all aging athletes. And we all have bad days.
If my roof leaks, I can call a roofer — I don’t have to YouTube it. Root canal? I see the dentist. Flat tire? I call AAA. Every problem on earth can be handed to an expert except one: SUDDEN VIOLENCE.
When that fear spike hits, you don’t have time to dial 9-1-1. You are the first responder. That’s why we train. Not just to be fit — to be an Aging Tactical Athlete. Capable, resilient, and dangerous when necessary.
This is my way of mentoring you the way I wish I’d been mentored.
